Hole 1
Falla Hill
A tight opening hole with out of bounds left. Try to place your tee shot on right side of fairway leaving 100 yards for approach shot to a small target. Longer hitters can drive this aiming at the right edge of the green.
-
Hole 2
The Plum
With out of bounds all the way up the left side, tee shot should be aimed at the tallest Pine tree, trying to leave 75-100 yards for the second shot which is guarded by three deep bunkers and out of bounds behind the green.
-
Hole 3
Greenhill
Dog-leg hole. Aim over the black/white post to avoid hidden pond and two fairway bunkers. Straight forward second shot to a small target and a flat green. Good birdie chance.
-
Hole 4
Bent Head
A long par 5. All uphill makes the hole play even longer. A three shot hole with out of bounds on the right side of the fairway. Green slopes from back to front.
-
Hole 5
The Pond
A very difficult hole with many hazards. Out of bounds the length of the hole up the right. A pond on the left which could catch any 2nd shot not hit perfectly. Take one extra club to reach this elevated green and be careful with the wind, the viaduct plays tricks with it.
-
Hole 6
Bridg End
From an elevated tee, this hole plays 1-2 clubs less than its' yardage. Middle of the green is an excellent shot which will miss the out of bounds right and water hazard over the green.
-
Hole 7
Tarry Dews
This drive is uphill, with a good strike will carry the burn and hopefully get to the top of the hill. From there it's another good hit to get in position for a pitch and a couple of putts. Longer hitters have a chance of getting home in two shots for a good birdie chance.
-
Hole 8
Wellhill
Best par 3 on the course with a slightly elevated tee. This small green is guarded with three bunkers, trees on the right and a burn on the left which come into play.
-
Hole 9
Power House
Another birdie chance. Driving through the bunkers left and right of fairway will leave an approach shot with a wedge. This green slopes from left to right.
-
Hole 10
Muldron
A very difficult par 3 with a blind tee shot. Aim over the Cairn (stone) on the mound and take one extra club as the green runs from front to back.
-
Hole 11
The Ruins
A short but tricky hole. The tee shot when lands will run from left to right with the slope. From there the green will be hidden by a mound. Aim your approach at the right half of the green.
-
Hole 12
Race Track
A long tough par 4. A straight long drive is required to climb over the mound to reach the flat of the fairway. The second shot is longer than the yardage suggests because of the elevated fairway and green. A score of five is not a bad effort.
-
Hole 13
Levenseat
An excellent strategic par 5. The drive should be placed between the burn on the left and the bunkers on the right, from there a solid shot to get over the burn which crosses the fairway and as far up the fairway as possible. This leaves a pitch shot to a very narrow elevated green which is guarded by a deep bunker on the left.
-
Hole 14
Eldrick
A beautiful par 4 down the hill. Try to drive the ball over the mound on the fairway leaving a flat lie. The approach shot must be very accurate to hit this small green which is guarded by two bunkers.
-
Hole 15
The Buchs
An elevated tee shot requires one less club than the yardage suggests. Any miss-hit shot could find the burn or the bunker short of the green. A par is an excellent score.
-
Hole 16
The Knowes
A slight dog-leg left. A drive left of the middle gives a good angle to see the pin. Try to hit onto correct tier on green for approach shot.
-
Hole 17
The Viaduct
Risk or reward hole. A reachable par 4 for some, riddled with danger. Out of bounds left and long with a burn short and right. Lay up or go for it?
-
Hole 18
The Greenburn
A very difficult finish, out of bounds left and right. The drive is hitting onto an angled fairway. Striaghtforward approach hit between the trees at the entrance.
